Mana Beads - Spring Beading Contest & Fundraiser - 2007

A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our first annual
Spring Beading Contest and Fundraiser!

We had a wonderful time with this contest and raised about $200 for the Neighborhood Center for the Arts!     Talented artists submitted a total of 25 entries in both "Wearable" and "Non-Wearable" categories. The range of designs and ideas was inspiring to say the least. Participants chose from one of four Inspiration Kits, each essentially the same but different colors. (Click here for contest guidleines). The result was 25 different expressions of individual creativity.

The Wearable category included necklaces, earrings, bracelets, a belly chain, lariat, watch, badge holder and more. The Non-Wearable category included diverse projects including a Christmas Ornament, a beaded spider web, a decorated gourd, and a beaded hanging vase. We saw beautiful examples of wire-work, seed-beadwork and bead stringing, with lots of new ideas for future projects! Needless to say, judging was not easy. We have lots of great ideas for next year when we will continue this annual event. We hope to get even more entries and to better advertise the event as a fundraiser so more donations can be provided to the Neighborhood Center for the Arts.
